The Dolphins now have another former Packers quarterback.

They acquired Kyle McCord from the Packers in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick, according to ESPN.

Miami had a need for a backup quarterback behind starter Malik Willis after trading Quinn Ewers to the Jaguars on Saturday.

The pick the Dolphins sent to the Packers is the same one they acquired from the Jaguars in the Ewers deal.

It continues a caravan of former Packers to the Dolphins.

First, the Dolphins hired Jon-Eric Sullivan, who was previously the Packers’ vice president of player personnel, to be their new general manager this past offseason.

Then, the Dolphins hired Jeff Hafley, who previously served as the Packers’ defensive coordinator, as their new head coach this past offseason.

And the Dolphins subsequently signed Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal in free agency to be their new starting quarterback after moving on from Tua Tagovailoa.

Willis spent the past two seasons with the Packers.

Now, McCord is the latest to join the group.

It is the first trade between Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and his former protégé in Sullivan.

McCord, a former star at Syracuse, was a sixth-round pick by the Eagles in 2025 but spent last year on their practice squad.

He signed with the Packers this past offseason before Sunday’s trade.

With Jordan Love and Tyrod Taylor firmly ahead of him in Green Bay, McCord would have been third-string.

The trade now allows McCord to be a backup and potentially opens the door for regular season playing time if Willis misses any time.

In the Packers’ preseason finale against the Cardinals on Friday, McCord completed 22 of 35 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns.
