Looks like acting won’t run in the family if Jessica Biel has anything to do with it.
Biel and her famous husband, Justin Timberlake, are determined to make sure their sons — Silas, 11, and Phineas, 6 — won’t benefit from their “nepo baby” title after their eldest expressed interest in acting.
“I told him there are kids who work really hard and they go to acting class and they’re in theatre class and they’re doing all the work,” Biel, 44, said during an appearance on “The Great Chat” podcast this week.
“You can’t just take a part from that person just because you’re my son. That’s not cool. We’re not doing that.”
She explained that she and Timberlake tried to keep their kids “away from all of this [the entertainment industry]” but didn’t want to “squash their dreams” in the process.
The actress allowed Silas to have a small role in “Matchbox: The Movie,” which she also stars in with John Cena, after producer Jules Daly offered a role.
The “7th Heaven” star said she and Timberlake, 45, felt comfortable with the idea, since it was “not a big speaking part.”
“This is a special opportunity because it’s really teeny tiny. And, if you had a big monologue, I wouldn’t let him do it,” she continued.
“You would have to earn that part because we’re not starting that, ‘Oh, you just get handed a bunch of opportunities because you’re part of this family.” We’re not doing that,” she said.
In the scene Silas filmed, he sits in a car when Biel asks him to get out.
Beside acting, Biel revealed that Silas enjoys DJing and comedy.

In a May 2025 interview with InStyle, Biel praised her “best friend” and husband Timberlake for helping her balance parenting and work.
The two wed in October 2012 after five years of dating.
“It really takes a village to raise any kid, let alone in a wild business like this where parents are traveling for long times for work,” she told the outlet at the time.
She said that she relies on both Timberlake and her “chosen sisters” for support.
“All of them together have gotten me through my life. I don’t know how I would have survived life without them,” she said.
She also added that the two don’t like to “expose” their children “in a way that they’re not comfortable with.”
“It’s scary every time. But it’s also their life. And so it’s this really tricky, tricky thing to figure out, what’s appropriate,” she shared.
