Jimmy Kimmel blasted Martha Stewart’s “ridiculous” Halloween costume in his monologue Monday.
“Martha Stewart, for whatever reason, dressed like a homeless person,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host told viewers, noting he “love[s] seeing rich famous people get hammered for their costumes the day after.”
After showing the lifestyle guru’s since-deleted photo of herself as an unhoused individual — complete with a cardboard sign and dirt on her face — Kimmel, 58, joked, “That’s how bad Trump’s economy is. Even Martha Stewart is homeless.”
He asked, “Now how does this happen? How does this woman wind up in that costume being photographed and posted? This is how you know your assistant hates you.”
Kimmel subsequently blasted Stewart’s initial defense of the costume, calling it “strike two” in her Halloween debacle.
The businesswoman, notably, told Page Six her ensemble was meant to “bring more awareness to the very serious subject of homelessness.”

She told us, “Homelessness continues to remain one of America’s greatest challenges and ongoing crises, something that I care deeply about and I have spent a significant amount of time and effort supporting charities that combat this ongoing social epidemic.”
Kimmel jokingly shared “a good general rule of thumb” for Stewart.
“Don’t use your Halloween costume to raise awareness of anything other than Halloween, especially when you complete the look with a boyfriend sweater from The Row,” he said.
Stewart did, ultimately, issue an apology for her headline-making outfit.
On Sunday, she wrote via Instagram, “It’s hard to admit when you’ve really screwed up. My earlier statement didn’t go far enough. I know many people are suffering economically. Wearing a costume like I did was insensitive and not funny.”
Stewart has continued posting on social media since the scandal, with one of her latest uploads causing controversy.
On Monday, she showed off the slew of pastry freebies she got from the new Altbau bakery in Brooklyn, New York.
One of Stewart’s followers requested she “deliver the bread to hungry people,” while another commented, “PR team must be ripping out their hair 💀.”
A third quipped that the post was “her version of ‘let them eat cake.'”
