TL;DR: New U.S. users can get a Babbel lifetime subscription to all 14 languages through the New York Post shop for $159 with code LEARN.

Language apps that run on cartoon streaks and five free mistakes a day won’t get you through a real conversation in Madrid. Duolingo’s paid plan also runs $6.99 per month. Babbel takes a different approach, and a lifetime subscription to all 14 of its languages is $159 with code LEARN (reg. $299) through the New York Post shop.

Babbel

An advertisement for Babbel language app on a smartphone, showing a price of $159 with code LEARN, over 10 million subscriptions sold, and a 4.6-star rating.

More than 150 linguists and language educators build Babbel’s lessons, and those lessons teach the conversations you need on an actual trip, from ordering dinner to asking for directions. Each one takes 10 to 15 minutes. Babbel also explains why a phrase works the way it does, instead of drilling it until it sticks.

Researchers at Yale University and the City University of New York studied Babbel learners in 2016. Of the users they followed, 100% improved their oral proficiency in three months. Speech recognition checks your pronunciation, and personalized review sessions help you remember the words you keep forgetting.

You get Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and nine more, on desktop and mobile, with lessons you can download for offline practice. Babbel’s own monthly plan works out to $646.20 over three years.

This offer is for new Babbel users in the U.S. only, and you’ll redeem it in a web browser before using the app.
