“He has been held in the warm embrace of family and friends, surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, laughter and the kind of profound emotion that only he could inspire after a lifetime of devotion to us all,” the statement read, in part.

“We will forever cherish the peaceful ease and reflection on his face, an enduring reminder of his invincible grace.”

Patrick’s death at 86 comes three years after he divulged his parenting regrets in an Irish Independent interview.

In the October 2023 sitdown, the Marvel star confessed to having a “practically non-existent relationship” with his kids because he “always put [his] acting work first” before his family.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not pained by the memory of my children, who they were and by a sense of responsibility that they became who they are in part because of me and my influence or lack of influence on them,” he told the outlet at the time.

Patrick admitted to not having been the “kind of father [he] wanted to be.”

He added, “Given that I’m separated from my children now, we don’t have relationships, they have become very important. I never thought that this would happen, but both my children are in their 50s, they’re not children anymore, they’re adults. And my relationship with them is practically non-existent.”

Patrick shared a similar sentiment chatting with The Independent in 2009.

“I was just obsessed with my work and everything else took second place,” he shared. “I’m trying to correct that now whenever possible with my grandchildren.”

Acknowledging that he “couldn’t done better as a parent,” the Golden Globe nominee noted his relief that his offspring “seem[ed] to have forgiven” him.

Patrick shared his children with Sheila Falconer, whom he was married to from 1966 to 1990.

His next marriage to Wendy Neuss lasted from 2000 to 2003, and he went on to wed Ozell, 47, in 2013.
