Tarik Skubal to the Mets would certainly give the team the ace it’s looking for at the top of the rotation, but they also need a backup plan.

For one, as The Post’s Jon Heyman reported, there is already a “feeding frenzy” around the two-time Cy Young Award winner.

That means that the Mets don’t have to simply contend with the Dodgers, but potentially the Cubs, Padres, Angels, Blue Jays and Phillies, as well as the yet to be identified mystery team.

So the reality is there’s a decent chance Skubal doesn’t end up in Queens.
